A Wide Range Of Chiropractic Treatments

in Des Moines, IA

Here at Central Health Chiropractic we offer a wide variety of techniques and treatments to ensure each patient receives the adjustments they are comfortable with. Primarily, Dr. Jake performs osseous manipulative techniques such as Diversified, Gonstead and Thompson techniques. These involve manually moving the bone, often producing an audible release or crack within the joint complex. They are also known as high velocity, low amplitude manipulations. Said another way: quick, specific, and low force manipulations.

Flexion Distraction Technique Chiropractic Relief in Des Moines, IA at Central Health Chiropractic

Flexion Distraction Technique

Here at Central Health, we are one of the few providers of flexion distraction therapy. This technique is gentle, effective, and requires no popping, twisting, or pushing on the lower back. It is also the gold standard conservative treatment for disc injuries, disc compression, and pain radiating into the legs, such as sciatica. The treatment works by decompressing and re-hydrating the discs between each spinal segment. Increased disc space means more room for nerves to exit the spinal column and less chance of any irritation or compression on those nerve roots.

Chiropractic Adjustment: High Velocity

The high velocity, low amplitude chiropractic adjustment is the foundation of chiropractic care. At Central Health Chiropractic, our doctors train heavily in techniques that yield the highest positive results from the lowest force possible to the human body. These techniques include the Diversified, Thompson, and Gonstead methodology. Our doctors use these techniques to locate specific segments of the spine that exhibit improper motion and biomechanics causing nervous system dysfunction. Once found, we deliver a fast, low force, manual adjustment, restoring proper motion within the segment and proper neurological transmissions.

Activator Technique in Des Moines, IA

Activator Technique

If you are not comfortable with other styles of adjustments, Dr. Jake is also comfortable with the Activator Technique. This involves using a spring-loaded instrument to deliver a quick, gentle impulse at the desired restriction point that produces no release. In other words, the activator technique will not crack your spine.

Activator Technique is an instrument-assisted technique. The doctor locates spinal misalignment and corrects it through an impulse sent through a spring-loaded impulse machine. This impulse is swift but gentle. Because of the speed of the device, the force necessary to achieve the desired correction is minimal. There is no audible crack in joints from this technique.

The activator technique is most often used for pediatric and geriatric patients. These patients require very little force to accomplish the desired movement. Simple physics come into play. The faster the impulse, the less mass or pressure is required to deliver the appropriate force.
