Kelli Hanson is your local Des Moines Functional Health expert. She is a total nutrition and wellness nerd. After growing up in St. Peter, Minnesota she studied Exercise Science at Simpson College while playing basketball and softball. She is currently finishing a second degree in Dietetics online through Kansas State University. She is on track to becoming a Registered Dietitian after completing her dietetic internship hours this summer and fall. Her experience with personal training, teaching yoga, nutrition counseling and nutrition advocacy has confirmed her passion for the field of health and wellness. Her mission is to help people learn how the body can heal itself (as well as prevent disease) through a healthy lifestyle.
Kelli tries to live a well balanced life but will be the first to admit she isn’t perfect. She loves cooking simple recipes, lifting weights, doing headstands, meditating, hiking, reading, going to breweries and spending time with family and friends.
Kelli believes food is medicine and health should be viewed with a holistic approach, including mind, body, and spirit.
Additional classes, books, and webinars have expanded her knowledge of gut and hormone health, intuitive eating, and women’s health. Kelli combines her dietetics and exercise science education with her passion for functional medicine principles including:
1. Everyone is completely unique.
2. All systems and body processes are connected.
3. Address the root cause.
4. Your body can self regulate.
5. Health means vitality.
