He then went to Davenport, Iowa to acquire his doctorate of chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He then went to work as an associate doctor for Drees Family and Sport Chiropractic in Indianola. There, he perfected his craft and had the opportunity to help thousands of people in many situations with a wide variety of conditions.
In his spare time, he participates in ultimate frisbee leagues to stay in shape and play’s recreational volleyball and soccer. He also enjoys working on design projects from furniture to entire homes. Recently, he has been a new pet owner to his cocker, spaniel Paisley.
Heather Thomas
Billing
Heather Thomas was born and raised in Indianola, where she still currently resides. She is proud of the four children she has raised and enjoys spending time with all of them, along with her four grandchildren and her husband, Jason.
Heather has worked in the chiropractic field for eleven years and enjoys developing relationships with the variety of people she gets to meet. She splits her daytime hours between Central Health Chiropractic and a non-profit business in Des Moines. In the spring and summer, she also runs a pop-up food stall called Roll With It, specializing in American Eggrollz. In the fall, until Christmas, you will find her at a variety of craft and vendor events, representing Aunt Nina’s Apron, sharing delicious toffee with family, friends and customers. She is also very active in her church and mentors a group of high school girls through their youth group.
Traveling is one of the things Heather loves to do and is always looking for her next big adventure. She has added a trip to Scotland to her bucket list in recent years and hopes to make that trip with her husband when they retire – at about the age of 92… In addition, she loves to laugh, especially at herself. Reading, cooking, and lounging in the sun are other pastimes she enjoys.
Heather is excited to be working side by side with Dr. Jake again and looks forward to helping him bring Central Health Chiropractic to the next level!
Kelli Hanson
Functional Health and Nutrition Specialist
Kelli Hanson is your local Des Moines Functional Health expert. She is a total nutrition and wellness nerd. After growing up in St. Peter, Minnesota, she studied Exercise Science at Simpson College while playing basketball and softball. She is finishing a second degree in Dietetics online through Kansas State University. She is on track to becoming a Registered Dietitian after completing her dietetic internship hours this summer and fall. Her experience with personal training, teaching yoga, nutrition counseling and nutrition advocacy has confirmed her passion for the field of health and wellness. Her mission is to help people learn how the body can heal itself (as well as prevent disease) through a healthy lifestyle.
Kelli tries to live a well balanced life but will be the first to admit she isn’t perfect. She loves cooking simple recipes, lifting weights, doing headstands, meditating, hiking, reading, going to breweries and spending time with family and friends.
Kelli believes food is medicine and health should be viewed with a holistic approach, including mind, body, and spirit.
Hannah Littrell
Front Desk
Hannah Littrell works at the front desk for Central Health Chiropractic. From prior experience being a store lead at a bustling local coffee shop, she loves to meet new clients and keep busy. Hannah grew up in Ankeny, Iowa—from there, she moved to Des Moines, Carlisle, and now resides in West Des Moines.
She enjoys caffeinating, travelling, playing piano, digital art, and delving into new recipes to cook with her husband Brandon. In her free time, she pursues art, both as a hobby and job on the side. She also loves to nerd out with her husband over their ever-growing boardgame collection they’ve been amassing over the years.
Avabelle Thomas
Front Desk
Avabelle Thomas is the most recent person to join Central Health Chiropractic. She is currently studying
Business Management at DMACC in Ankeny and comes to us with pervious Chiropractic office
experience. In her spare time, Avabelle, (Ava) enjoys trying new foods, spending time with her friends
and family and her dog Remmi, relaxing in the sun and taking naps. A lifelong resident of Indianola, she
now makes her home in Ankeny and loves all of the opportunities her new city has to offer.
An avid traveler, Ava has visited multiple states – hiked the Blue Ridge Mountains and entertained her
mom’s dream of visiting Dollywood, skied in Colorado, visited Disney World and swam with the
Manatee, aka Chunky Mermaids, in Florida, gone on a haunted tour in Charleston, explored tropical
islands on a cruise, jet skied off the coast of Mexico and swam with sharks and stingrays in Belize.
However, her favorite vacations have been spent with her extended family soaking in the sun in Myrtle
Beach. Over the last five years, she has found fulfillment while traveling with her church on mission trips
over her spring breaks. She has delivered food to the impoverished children in remote areas of the
Appalachian Mountains, cleaned homes and a church after major flooding in Kentucky and Mississippi,
worked at a Native American Reservation School in New Mexico, carpentry in Kentucky, and built
interior walls in a home outside Belize City. The summers, she counsels young students at area church
camps and entertains her young nieces and nephews.
Ava is excited to be part of Central Health Chiropractic and believes proper chiropractic care contributes
to overall good health. She is looking forward to seeing you through your natural healthcare journey.
